Introduction

Needs in Matium Core describe a specific material demand from a specific company. The details of a need include the requesting company, location, material parameters, requested weight, target price, packaging parameters and terms for shipping. Needs represent your market demand in Matium that might traditionally be tracked by creating an RFP/RFQ. By creating and tracking all of the material needs of your company and the companies you do business with, Matium will help you understand your supply chain more fully and will help you find the best buy, sell and trade opportunities in your market.

Matches

Once a Need is created, Matium will automatically and intelligently generate matches based on specific material lots other companies would like to sell or by finding companies whose material profile matches the need. A match rating will be provided allowing you to find the best matches in terms of price, location and material specifications. Once a match is made, you will be able to share the details of the match and create sell or trade orders all within the Matium platform.

Lifecycle

A Need in Matium will start with an Active status and an initial requested weight. As orders are created for a Need, the remaining weight will be updated to reflect how much of the material is still required.

A Need will be marked as Completed when the remaining weight reaches 0 or will be marked as Expired when the expiration date has passed. Needs may be marked as Cancelled at any time.

A Need may also be archived at any time if no longer relevant.

You may manually reset the status to Active at any time as long as the remaining weight is greater than 0. You may also update the expiration date to sometime in the future, which will automatically update the status to Active.
